Huge Sinclair Refinery in the Town of Sinclair, WY
They have a Mural Tour in Rawlins which is part of the Rawlins Main Street Project. Here is one of the murals on the side the the Keg Saloon (which has good cold beer on tap). The mural is called "Thomas Edison and was painted by Sarah Johansson. It depicts the moment when "the light came on" for Thomas Edison. He was visiting Carbon County in 1878 and went fishing using fiber line and it was then that he came up with the idea to test as a suitable filament for the incandescent light bulb.
In Wyoming bars/grills also sell liquor and beer to go. This place has a drive up window.
Jo and her sunsets. This is at the KOA RV Park in Rawlins
Scenery along the highway. Some ranchers bale the hay in squares, others roll it up. Here is a huge stack of rolled hay.
The wooden fencing at the bottom of the photo is what they call snow fencing out here. It's supposed to stop the snow from piling up on the highway by collecting up behind the fence.
As you can see there is an awful lot of highway with nothing out there but you and the road and hopefully others on the highway.
An interesting hole in the clouds don't you think??
Indian Chief W_________ (I forgot how to spell his name, sorry). This is in front of one of the University of Wyoming buildings.
The University of Wyoming at Laramie stadium (it is huge). They were having student orientation going on while we were in town.
The perfect excuse for students. Tell Mom and Dad that you are going (or went) to the Library (this is across the street from some of the University dorms, etc. This particular "The Library" is actually a restaurant sports bar/grill with pool tournaments, etc. The staff wore T-shirts with the logo saying "Don't lie to your parents, tell them you went to the library".
Our motorhome at the KOA RV Park in Laramie, Wyoming. The largest tree in the park next to us. Well we got one heck of a wind storm (some rain) but mostly high winds for a couple of days. We noticed that the tree had a large crack going up the middle of it. Needless to say after having just had the decals removed and stripes painted on ($$$) we asked to be moved to another site.
You can see the crack going up the middle of the upper part of the tree.
We have no idea what the purpose of this metal alligator serves, etc. except I thought he was really interesting.
Downtown Laramie outside one of the restaurants.
Bear and dog on guard duty (woof woof).
