Just a typical scene we saw as we drove around exploring the area. On the other side of the hill is the beach and pacific ocean.
We stopped at the Darlingtonia State Natural Site where we had a rare opportunity to see the Cobra Lily, a carnivorous plant. They actually do look like SNAKES.
The Cobra Lily's magnificent reddish purple top leaves and sweet smelling nectar attract the bugs, once inside the plant, life ends. The plant traps the insects, which slide down and get digested and absorbed by the plant.
The 18-acre Botanical Park has a very nice broadwalk trail leading to the plants, Jo is taking pictures from the veiwing area. It is also home to other lush vegetation, as you can see in front of Jo, there is also a pinic area.
All along the coast we saw trees leaning away from the ocean , like this one. The wind sure takes it toll on the vegetation.
Another example of the scenery we saw in the area.
We had to stop at Jerry's Hot Rod Grill and Lounge for lunch, after all it is not often one sees cars coming out of a building.
The Burger and Rootbeer Float were good, we'd go back again.
We were wondering if there was a song about a pink cadillac, anyone who can help us on that?
A lot of the coast had rock ledges, here some fishermen were trying thier luck.
Another way to get to the ocean is walking across sand, so the coast is rugged rocks and sand. Jo's not sure which one is easier to walk on, the sand you sink in, the rocks you hope you don't fall or slip and break your neck.
We stopped at one of the many viewing areas to take in the beauty of the ocean.
