1869 steam locom

You are at the Golden Spike National Historic Site's visitor center. Pictured here are the two working replicas of the 1869 steam locomotives "Jupiter" wood burning, and "119" coal burning. As you can also see the tracks met in the middle of no where, at the time there was a small town.
One could take a ride on the hand cart, we opted not to as when we were going to the wind started to blow hard, we got out of the wind, end of tour for us.
As you can see the engines where painted really pretty, traveling sign boards of their day.
I had to show you the beautiful painting on engine 119.
As you can see the cow catcher and the headlight are also brightly painted.
Here you can see the different smoke stacks, as the Jupiter's is flare while 119's is a straight pipe.
How pretty is this, considering the time frame, I was amazed.
This is called a blow down a common thing among steam engines, each engine did one for us.
119's blow down, they were about a quarter mile from us when they did it.
