Vedauwoo Recreation Area

Vedauwoo (pronounced Vee-dah voo), an Arapaho word meaning "earthborn". It is located twenty miles east of Laramie at exit #329 off of I-80.
Indians believed that these magnificent rock formations in the Pole Mountains area of the Medicine Bow National Forest were created by animal and human spirits. The area was considered a sacred place where young Indian men went on vision quests.
Along the way we saw some odd rock shapes, this area caught my eye because the rock was hugging the tree, plus the other two rocks looked like they were shaved moon shaped.
I would call this one mushroom shaped, how about you?
As you can see some of these rocks are quite tall, Jo walked easily under the one on her right.
Look closely, there was a gap of nearly a foot under the rock, Jo was trying to decide if she wanted to climb up to me, she decided not to.
Vedauwoo is considered to be among the best rock climbing in the state with difficulty ranges from 5.0 to 5.14, with many places to practice crack climbs.
I think this rock is a balancing rock, because it is much larger at the top.
For sure this rock is balanced, just look at the bottom of it, what is keeping it standing?
I will go out on a limb and call this one a turtle rock, of course the turtle is on his side.
