Re-enactment of driving golden spike

We were treated to a small piece of railroad history, with the re-enactment of the driving of the golden and silver spikes. The players were dressed in costume's of the day, 1869.
Along with the railroad came the telegraph, at the driving of the spikes, the president was informed of all the happenings.
This group represented the Central Pacific, Owner of the railroad and state dignitaries.
The group standing without their locomotive were some dignitaries waiting the arrival of engine 119 which was a day late.
The first spike driven was a ceremonial Golden Spike, then a Silver spike was driven in, both were replaced with regular spikes.
Each railroad owner took turns driving the spikes.
The iron spikes were driven in by a railroad worker.
