This is the Prison Industries Building (aka the Broom Factory). It houses some of the original broom making equipment that the convicts used to manufacture brooms.

By 1900, 20 to 25 convicts per shift were producing approximately 720 brooms daily. The brooms were sold all over the U.S. and also shipped overseas.

There were 2 volunteers on sight explaining how the brooms were made.

This guy made this broom while were were there. It is standing up by itself (his hands are by his side and the broom is not leaning on him). Really interesting.

A coal burning stove to heat up the place.

See picture below.

The man is making another broom while we watch.

Outside area-life on the prairie (horse barn, etc.)

Farming equipment of some kind

Self-explanatory

Boxcar House -It was constructed from a railroad boxcar. The U. of Wyoming converted it into a home for its stock farm employees (mainly sheep herdsman).

Inside one of the buildings (school room) from the Frontier Town area. These buildings were built to show what an early Wyoming town might have looked like.
